Authentic, original and full of character: London Pride is unmistakably London’s beer. This famous ale even found its name on the streets of the capital. ‘London Pride’ was a suggestion by a member of the public in the 50s, inspired by a flower of the same name that somehow survived - thrived, even - in war-time London.
London Pride is brewed with entirely home-grown hop varieties - Target for bittering and Northdown, Challenger and Goldings for aroma. But the soul of the beer is unquestionably in the malt. Crystal malts combine with spring-harvested Pale Ale and Chocolate varieties to give Pride its depth and balance.
This tawny-coloured ale borrows sweet raisin, biscuit and dried-fruit notes from the Crystal malt, while fresh, piney herbs emanate from the hops. Rich, smooth and elegant on the palate, it draws to a clean, satisfying finish with beautifully balanced bitterness.
When it comes to food, London Pride and roast chicken is a perfect marriage of flavours, with the caramel notes of the beer perfectly complementing the caramelised skin of the chicken.
